BEAR GENE'S BIO BODY FUEL - VEGAN POWER
WELCOME!
Hi, Vegan and non Vegan Friends! I am Blue Bear Gene! My Friends call me "Bear". I am a Born Again Vegan! Whoop whoop! Basically, I had a load of health issues such as being overweight, painful bones - especially in my feet and bad skin. I was in a very bad way and in July of 2016 I decided to do something about it.
I started power-walking and cut red meat from my diet. It was sheer will power that enabled me to power-walk as the pain in my feet was excruciating. I was even considering having them amputated and replaced with the kind of replacement limbs made famous by the Paralympic Games. Yes, I was in so much pain.
SEPTEMBER 2016
Whilst in bed, one evening, I thought about to a time when my feet weren't painful. I thought about my diet. The byproduct of meat was painful joints and this is why I became a Vegetarian and then a Vegan in the 80s. However, I was convinced that I wasn't getting enough nutrients from a Vegan diet and I became a Pescatarian in the late 90s. And then in 2001, I started to eat meat again; I kept it strictly white meat only.
It became obvious to me that meat was very likely the cause of the pain in my feet. The pain got so bad that it took a great effort for me to walk. So, come September 2016, I decided to cut meat out altogether! Where I would be lax with dairy i.e. chocolate cakes, I cut out any form of dairy. At the same time, a friend of mine had the idea for us to join a gym. I thought this was a brilliant idea as the weight wasn't shifting as I would have liked through power-walking 2 or 3 times a week.
THE GYM
It had been years since I had joined a gym and it was alien to me for the first month. I could only manage about 6 kph on the treadmill through walking. I kept maintaining a strict Vegan diet and drank lots of water. It didn't take long before I was feeling confident to increase the speed on the treadmill and to start jogging. I noticed that I could actually jog without feeling that excruciating pain that made me consider amputation. I was able to walk normally as opposed to hobbling around.
I was starting to look and feel better!
OCTOBER 2016
I had lost about 3kg! I was in the gym 5 to 6 days a week. It was as though the last 10 years of my life didn't happen. By that I mean, the meat eating and the side-effects with the painful bones/joints. By October 2016, I was able to run on the treadmill and up to about 14 kph for about 30 seconds. I could maintain about 8.5 kph for about 15 to 20 minutes. I use the treadmill to warm-up. From the treadmill, I go on to use weight based apparatus - including free weights. Let's fast forward to...
DECEMBER 2016
For the first time in ages, I had my first Born Again Vegan Xmas! It was fantastic! Beautiful vegetation and fruit. None of the usual meat fest and feeling like the body is going to explode at the end where usually we sit in front of the TV and sleep. No more sweets full of processed and refined sugars. Just beautiful vegetation and fruit. Nothing to recover from in the New Year!
TODAY, JANUARY 2017
I have created this Google Blogger Space to share my experiences with you regarding being a Vegan. I feel great again and I cannot go back to my meat eating and Pescatarian ways now that I am eating a very wholesome and balanced diet. Yes, there is more to being a Vegan than just the consumption of vegetables, grain and fruit. But I say, one step at a time.
During these steps I would like to share my experiences with you! I have some plans and ambitions that must be fulfilled this year. One of these plans involves becoming a Vegan Chef/Cook. I aspire to make a living doing something very ethically sound. At the moment, I am gearing up to change my vocation which as been primarily IT based, Graphic & Multimedia Design.
THANK YOU!
Thank you for reading! We shall catch up very soon!
Love,
Bear XOXOXOXO
